“Where there is no wine there is no love” – Euripides.

Think wine. Think a multitude of scenarios and flavours.

Wine has been used for centuries in a host of ceremonies from the religious and the devout to the simply social. With flavours and notes as wide and wondrous as the world, The Library Bar located at The Norman Hotel is proud to be the owners of The Best Wine List in Israel for 2 years running.

The Norman’s award winning sommelière, Shira Tsiddon has curated a wine list that represents the very best wines from the international market as well as the key producers in Israel. The Norman also boasts Israel’s most extensive Champagne list.

In addition to an award winning wine list & sommelière, Alena restaurant, located on the ground floor of The Norman hotel has its own label rosé wine perfect for all seasons. Launched to much acclaim, the bespoke blush wine was assembled with Amphorae winery in collaboration with The Norman, culminating in a breezy, crispy fresh blend with a delectable hint of strawberry.

With an ever changing wine cellar and constantly updated a la carte menu from Barak’s kitchen, the wine list is regularly refreshed. But for today, the wine best paired with Barak Aharoni’s excruciatingly good calamari salad is Jean Durup’s 2016 Chablis. Produced in France’s Burgundy region, this white wine has a fresh flavor and pure balance.

But with the autumn chill creeping upon us, red wines, take centre stage in the romance of the season. Brought to the fore by Italian produced Rosso di Montepulciano Boscarelli, 2017. From the Tuscan region, this wine pops with black cherry flavors and a subtle spiciness, creating the perfect blend for a relaxed evening in The Library Bar.

One of The Norman’s most recommended local red wines is the Margalit Paradigma GSM 2015. An Israeli wine produced in the Galilee, it is soft with an elegant medium body and well suited to a number of Alena’s dishes, and all possible occasions.

The Library Bar at The Norman hotel in Tel Aviv is a haven for all wine lovers, connoisseur or novice. Open daily from 9am to 1am, expect a wide selection of beers, cocktails and high-end cigars, and the best wine list in the land.
